The Sustainability Subcommittee is ASTSWMO’s newest subcommittee. It was established in July 2007 and its four task forces were created in the Fall of that year. Consistent with the Environmental Sustainability focus area of the ASTSWMO Strategic Plan, the Subcommittee will help the Association develop, disseminate and implement the best emerging ideas and methodologies needed to help ensure societal needs are met without comprising the needs of future generations. Through its Task Forces and organizational structure, the Subcommittee will serve as a crucial communication linkage with the ASTSWMO Board of Directors, ASTSWMO Subcommittees, other Task Forces and Focus Groups, USEPA, and other public and private partners with similar goals regarding environmental sustainability.
