The ASTSWMO Base Closure Focus Group developed this Report to document the challenges States have encountered in implementing the 2005 round of Base Realignment and Closure. 32 States assisted the Focus Group by providing State-specific information summarized in this Report.

Final BRAC Guide (Updated January 2009)
The ASTSWMO Base Closure Focus Group developed this Guide in October 2006 to identify changes to the BRAC process as outlined in DoD’s March 2006 Base Realignment and Redevelop Manual and to assist State and Territories in working with DoD, local redevelopment authorities and communities in assuring protective, expeditious cleanup and property transfer.
In January 2009, the ASTSWMO Base Closure and Radiation Focus Groups updated the Guide to include Chapter VII, Radiological Constituents. This chapter provides an introductory resource to States and Federal Facilities Managers in evaluating the potential for radioactive contamination to be present at BRAC sites.
